FAQs

  • Our sessions take place over an easy-to-use, secure, HIPAA compliant video platform. You will receive a link to each scheduled session in an appointment reminder email. All you have to do is click the link to join the session.

  • Individual sessions are 45 minutes and couples sessions are 60 minutes. Sessions take place on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

  • Your consultation will take place over a 15-minute phone call, free of charge. On this call, we will talk about what brings you to therapy at this time and what you hope to get out of therapy. I will also share with you about my therapeutic approach and answer any questions you might have about any part of the process.

If we decide to move forward, you will receive a link to set up your client portal via Simple Practice. You will be prompted to complete some paperwork and intake documents prior to our first session.

The first few sessions will be a chance for us to get to know one another. It’s normal for people to have different comfort levels opening up to a new person, and so we will move at your pace to explore the reasons you decided to come to therapy, what you would like to work on, and what progress would look and feel like to you. I’ll also be interested in learning more about you in the context of your world, so we may talk about your past, your important relationships, your work or school life, and your health history. I will listen with openness, curiosity, and non-judgment as you share as much as you are comfortable sharing. The information gathered during our first few sessions will start informing how we will work together to resolve your challenges. In these early sessions, we may also practice coping strategies for your immediate relief from feelings of anxiety, anger, or distress. Over time, we will more deeply explore common themes in your past and present life, including your experience in therapy itself, in order for you to better understand yourself, move through the world differently, and move towards long-term healing.

  • I am in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare, and Oxford insurances for New York State residents. I am an out-of-network provider with all other insurance and for Florida residents, which means if you have out-of-network reimbursement benefits for telehealth mental health care, you could receive reimbursement for some percentage of my fee, depending on your plan. You might have a deductible to meet before you’re eligible for out-of-network reimbursement or there might be restrictions on the duration of sessions or how many sessions you are eligible for. It’s important that you find out from your insurance exactly what your coverage is. If you decide to use out-of-network benefits, you will be responsible for paying the full fee of each session upfront, and I will provide you with a monthly Superbill document that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Out of pocket rates are $200 for individual sessions, $250 for couples sessions, and $100 for group sessions. Reduced rates are available on a limited basis.

  • Nope! Some people come to therapy knowing exactly what they’d like to work on, while others are are less sure but open to the process. If you have clear goals, I’d love to hear them, but if you feel unsure of where to begin or where you want to go in therapy, that’s okay! I’m happy to act as more of a guide as we discover together how therapy can enlighten and empower you.

  • Contact me to schedule a free, 15-minute phone consultation to see if we could be a good fit or if I can provide you with alternative resources. I look forward to hearing from you.
